India photos

I went through all the photos I took in India, and have spent today uploading them. You can find them all on my website. They didn't really come out as well as I hoped, but hopefully they give a little taste of my experience in India. Even the cockroaches!

I'm feeling better than I have for a long time, for which I'm glad. The infection in my leg has almost entirely gone (although the surgeon in India took the stitches out too early, so I have an impressive scab which will no doubt leave an equally impressive scar that I can add to my collection!), and I'm not feeling so fluey anymore.

I still have a considerable lack of money though, so I'm going into Romsey tomorrow for interviews at some temp agencies there, and I'll be doing the same in Southampton towards the end of the week.

It's nice to be back in the UK!

Last post from India!

And I'm in Agra! Took a train here from Delhi this morning, and I'm heading back in an hour or so, after abut 12 hours here. I've done a heckuva lot of sightseeing, but the Taj Mahal just about tops it all. It defies explanation. Was especially special being there as the sun set, watching it turn a wonderful golden colour. And sitting on a rooftop, eating good food, watching the sunset as the calls to prayer rang out over the city, with a Taj view, watching a bow dly his kite, has been quite a nice end to my time here in India.

It's nice that *something* went right, eh?

Aweh

I'm heading into Delhi for a few days to stay with my adoptive family (Jaggi and Alika Bakshi and their awesome kids), which will hopefully help me feel better. At least I won't be eating noodles all day every day anymore.

I'll be away from the internet while I'm there, so I can be reached at +919810638202, if anyone fancies giving me a call or SMS.

Toodles.

There's a time for everything. Right now, it's time to come home.

While life here in India has been quite varied the past 8 weeks, it's been more down than it has been up, and the last 2 weeks or so have been especially so.

I cut my leg on a rickshaw last Sunday (26th Aug), and it ended up needing stitches. It also became infected, and I woke up on the Monday feeling like 5 kinds of death. The Gastritus/IBS came back, badly, and I also came down with a flu of some sort. So, generally pretty ill.

I've spent the last 10 days either at the hospital or sleeping. And thankfully, I'm starting to feel a tiny bit better. I can expect to continue feeling sick for another few months though, as my immune system continues adjust to living here in India. So, coupled with the lack of money and the issues I have with my job here, I decided it was time to leave a bad situation before it got worse. I've given it 2 months, and I can honestly say I tried. But enough is enough. It's time to go home, get well, and pay off my debts.

The money issue is particularly bad, especially as I've been spending almost my entire paycheck here on medical treatments. Sadly though, I have a £75 excess on medical bills for my insurance, and because I've had so many different problems, and because £75 is a *lot* of money here, I can't get anything other than the root canal covered on insurance, and even that will only get me £30 or so. So I have no money to live on here, because I'm spending it all on medical bills.

I intend to book a flight home for the 14th September. I'll be going back to Romsey (well, North Baddesley now) to live with my parents, and I'll probably get a temporary job of some sort to pay off my overdraft, and start saving so I can travel again in the new year.

And it's also time to start looking at fulltime jobs and careers. Scary, eh?
