Ooops?

My phone finally decided to tell me that Viola left me a voicemail yesterday afternoon; I was supposed to be meeting her and Colette in Santa Cruz last night, but completely forgot about it. My bad. :/

Week once more

So, last week was pretty similar to the week before; Work all day, then come home and do aiesec stuff/play xbox/read/rack up a massive phone bill/sleep. Went out to Palo Alto again on Friday with Marija, Helena, Patricia, Gary, Colin and James, to the Rose and Crown again. Turned into a but of a unofficial karaoke night, with us singing various songs at the top of our voices outside for a good 3 hours. Got a pint spilled over me by Marija, and Colin got a photo taken of him being held by some cops for a joke. Good times.

Mooched around all day Saturday before heading to Great Mall in the late evening to do some shopping with Marija and Helena. Got three excellent t-shirts for $15 (about 8GBP) and a Geiger wall calender, so I was happy. Even though I was sat in a shoeshop for a good 45 mins :P

Sunday involved spending the afternoon in San Jose at an aiesec recruitment strategy meeting for half an hour, then a sociable pot-luck-lunch GPM. Followed by Agnes showing Alex, Anh, Antonio and Callista and I a nice British Pub that was close by, where I cunningly opened a tab with my card and forgot to pick it up when we left. I shall hae to go back down to San Jose to retrieve it tomorrow or Wednesday or something.

After the pub, Agnes, Alex, Anh and I went back to Alex's house and got a BBQ started, and BBQ'd a bunch of sausages and chicken drumsticks. Delicious stuff. Then Kristy and some of her friends came over, and we started watching The 40 Year Old Virgin, 'cept Agnes and Kristy ended up leaving half way through, and then Anh started falling asleep, so we abandoned it half way through. I got back home around midnight, and promptly collapsed into bed.

And today has been full of work and meetings. So yay.

Monday

Got up fairly early on Monday (no work though, t'is a national holiday here in the US: Martin Luther King Jr rememberance day, or somesuch), and made a fair bit of headway on my list of Things To Do for Aiesec. Then meant to go hunting for a new stereo system for my car (one that I can plug my mp3 player into directly, instead of through a radio transmitter), but instead got sidetracked into playing games all afternoon with James, Colin, Peter and Tim.

Played my first game of DotA (and got utterly pwnd), which was fairly fun, then switched to CoD for a while (did pretty well, but James picked it up quickly and won in the last few games). Then, after a little bit of Doom Co-Op and and interlude for Pizza Consumption, it was time for ep's 3 & 4 of 24. Goooooooood stuffs!

Headed back to my room, chatted to Meredith for a while, then tried to get some sleep. Didn't work too well though :/ Hopefully I'll sleep better tonight.

So, Palo Alto on Friday. Didn't drink all that much, but it was excellent to be able to sit down with people, especially Marija, Helena and Patricia. Everyone came back to the hotel afterwards, but I hit the sack pretty early on.

Mooched around all day Saturday before going out for a h00ch chinese meal with the guys and Anna, Marija, Helena and Patricia again. Watched 2 movies afterwards, hooking up my laptop to the TV in Colin's room; Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (Hilarious dark comedy. Love it.) and American Pie : Band Camp, a rather amusing but ultimately pointless film. Still, good times.

Mooched around some more this morning, before heading off to San Jose around midday for what turned out to be a 5 hour long AIESEC strategy planning meeting. Long, but *very* productive. I'm gonna have my work cut out for me as Events Co-ordinator. Fun though.

I just finished watching the Premiere of 24 Season 5, and it's *sooooooo* good. I almost squeeeee'd. The first 2 episodes are really shocking... so much stuff happens that's just really surprising. And very sad :( There are another 2 episodes tomorrow, so looking forward to that.

So yes. Phun.

Geek

I have Skype: my name thingy is "nebheadian". If you have it, please add me. Skype is a wonderful, wonderful thing. And it'll help me keep in contact with people so mcuh easier :P

In other news, I went out to the Rose and Crown (an attempt at an English Pub) in Palo Alto, and drank Newcastle Brown all night. That's some tasy beer. Then I bought a burger from Jack in the Box, except they forgot to give me my burger. That made me sad.

Tomorrow is another day.

*hugs everyone*

Weekness

So this week has been rather moochy; Spent a lot of time reading the last book of the Otherland series by Tad Williams, and finished that off yesterday. Also installed CoD2 yesterday, and managed to play it half way through in one sitting. It's really rather good... quite similar to the first, but much more immersive. Good stuff.

Finally got my insurance sorted out with Geico; paying about $80 a month for my car insurance. Also, on Wednesday, Filip and Igor came over after work and we attempted to get my Bus started. After towing it around for a bit, we managed to start the engine by shifting it into gear whilst moving, but we couldn't get it to stay started, so I'm suspecting that after 6 months of nothing, all the petrol has gone. So I'm gonna fill the tank up, and we're gonna try again next weekend.

I may just try and get a bunch of photos online this evening, from New York, Tahoe, and a host of other places. 'Bout time, really.

In other news, Meredith has introduced me to Sufjan Stevens and The New Pornographers, and I'm loving them both. Michael Buble is also rocking my socks.

I think that's about it. Oh, I'm also spending waaaaaaaaaaaay too much money, but since when was that anything new? I'm also still recovering from the week of sleep dep that was WSC.

Mmmm

I'm loving Chicane ~ Overlap. Halycon is pretty great too. It's a great piece to just kick back, relax, and drift to. And with the tumultuous chaos my mind has been in over the 2 weeks, it's been really good to get some clarity of thought back.

Although, feeling quite surreal now. All the travelling I do, all the meeting new people, always makes me feel this way. Never long enough in one place to truly make a connection with anyone, arriving and leaving again with nothing but impressions and some few vague memories. And is life nothing but a sucession of these?

Hmm. Thoughts indeed.

Stuff and pie.

The Ultimate Showdown: Absolutely hilarious.

Also, Wierd Al, Bohemian Raphsody, and Lost. Winnar.

Wooyay

Note to self: Using windscreen washers when you have the sunroof down is a bad idea (Sun roof was down due to 30C temperature. Are you not all jealous?).

So getting sushi with Anna was good, and it was pretty much straight back home to buy drink and food and stuff. The party was an excellent success; Saw so many people who I hadn't seen in ages. Saldy, Kristy, Dagan and Brian arrived first but went to get some food at the Thai Orchid, and Patricia, Marija and Helena arrived while they were out. Caught up with them a bit, swapping stories from our respective holidays. The others then got back with Mallory, and after a while Anh, Anh's friend Anna, Anna and Colin and the other trainees also arrived. Was excellent. Managed to spend about 3 hours on the phone too, which was fun; Mostly to Meredith, a friend I made in Ohio the past week, and then also giving Ashley and Alice directions down from San Francisco to here.
Lots of photos were exchanged, and we watched about 30 mins of the Dressed to Kill DVD... I *have* to show that at the next conference!

Total damage for the night was:
36 Corona
1 Malibu
1 Pineapple Malibu
1 Captain Morgans
1/2 Watermelon Sourz
1/2 Beefeater Gin

Totalling way too much money from my bank account, but it was worth it.

Didn't get to bed until almost 4am, and ended up sharing my bed with Mallory. Woke up bright and early at 9am, had a quick shower, then Brian, Dagan, Mallory and I all went and grabbed breakfast downstairs before heading up to San Francisco to take the guy back to Ashleys house to pick up their bags so they could drive home to Oregon. Mallory and I then drove back here, were she dropped me off and then drove home. An excellent day so far, and it's only 1530.

The rest of the day shall consist of lots and lots of sleep, I think.

WSC

Adding the last week to my journal needs much more time than I have at the moment, but it was excellent. Met a bunch of new people, made a bunch of new friends, and survived on only about 20 hours sleep for the entire week. There were some dramallama issues with aiesec and people getting overly drunk, etc, which kinda spoiled the mood a little in the last few days, but other than that it was an utterly kickass conference.

I'm about to meet Anna for sushi (she got back from Hungary yesterday too), and then it's a h00ch party at my place tonight with Dagan and Brian from Portland (they flew back from WSC via San Francisco, and're spending a few nights here) and Mallory, a girl I met at WSC who happens to live not far from here, and Marija and Helena who just got back from Brazil, and everyone else who I haven't seen for ages. Should be good stuffs.

Now I just have to go buy food, do laundry, tidy my room and a bunch of other stuff before people get here for the party tonight.
