Laptop Time

I'm thinking of getting this laptop. It's fairly light, big screen, and it has everything I want. Only downside is that it's an Acer.

The other ones I looked at were all from ebuyer: There was a nicely powerful one that was big and bulky, and nice and small one, which was quite nicely powered, but was quite expensive for the spec, and a few more in the middle.

Any comments before I take the plunge?

WITHIN TEMPTATION!

Awesome night last night :D

We (Me, Kim, Bel, Mike, Jen, Dan, Laura, Jules, Piggeh and a late Syn) all managed to get on the coach (even if Piggeh had to run the length of the high street to make it), and I spent the journey dozing and listening to Nightwish. Apparantly, I looked cute :D
Got to Victoria around 1700, and got KFC, then headed over to Kings Cross. Managed not to get lost on the underground.

Got to Scala at 1830, and stood in a queue for aaaages: doors opened around 1920 (ticket said 1900). The concert didn't actually start until about 2100, but there was a guest DJ before that, so there was music. Still, we didn't know what was happening, and it got a bit boring waiting for the band.

The concert itself was excellent. I'm not much of a reviewer, but I enjoyed every moment of it, and I think everyone else did too, which was good :D

Finished at 2230, which was good (coach was at 2330, and I thought we might have to leave early to make it), and ambled back across to Victoria Coach Station. Got some food, sumbled back on the coach, and came back to Canters. Most people fell asleep on the coach, and Syn out on some of his music on m speakers. Was really good music, and I must get it off him at some point.

Got home, and ended up chatting to Jess and Steph until 5am, which was awesome.

The plan for today involves showering, eating, buying a laptop and maybe doing some work :D

Uber update

Friday evening was spent at Kim's: watched some more Dangermouse! :D I've only just realised how messed up Dangermouse was.... I honestly am starting to believe that kids TV in the 80s was a government experiment in mass brainwashing.

Spent all day Saturday at dbs, did some work for Nick on a website, and then made Kim very happy :D

Sunday was spent at dbs mostly again... got Pizza takeout in the evening and watched Star Wars IV, A New Hope with peeps. Got quite annoyed with peeps who kept talking and stuffs, but was still enjoyable. Hadn't seen it in SO long.

Monday, lectures started. Got a lift up with John and Linus, and went to stuff. Was fairly boring, introductory stuffs. Went to the rocks room for a few hours with peeps bewteen lectures, then Origins for food at 1400. Only just made it to the last lecture at 1500. Even duller, and I actually fell asleep on Kim.
Walked with Kim back to dbs, spent a few hours there before going home.

Tuesday was pretty packed with lectures, and some of them were more interesting than Monday's. Still, 5 hours of stuffs wasn't fun. Looked around the poster sale in the hour break between stuffs. Almost bought some more posters, but there isn't really enough space in my room :(

Hung around in the rocks room after everything, before going to Origins at 1800 before quizzeh at 2000. Quiz people were annoyingly slow and hard to understand, but still won some stuffs (for guessing the weight of the worlds largest cheese). Got a headache was was a little grumpy, so apologies to anyone I annoyed.

Got the nightbus back down to town (Nightbus == coolness), and slept.

Today shall involve going to London and seeing Within Temptation live. Fun fun :D

Pain

Yesterday was absolutely insane.

Got to the hospital in Herne Bay on time, and had two cavaties filled. The whole of my left upper lip was numbed up though, and stayed like that for several hours. Not particularly fun.

Got back into Canterbury at around 1030, and bought coach tickets for next wednesdays trip to Within Temptation before heading up to the societies Freshers Fayre on campus. Handed out loads of Tagsoc leaflets, and gave a quick 2 minute talk about the social side of Computer Science to the CS1ers too.
Spent a good few hours wandering around the freshers fayre, and then headed over to Rubberfood for some lunch around 1400 before going to the rocks room for a few hours. Purchased a shiney SunRay card \o/

Met up with three freshers who had already found their way onto IRC, and went back to Rutherford for the CS1 reception thingy; Was good fun talking to the freshers :)

Cycled home to get ready for Bene's birthday, and headed out around 1900.. went to Marlowe's and met a whole load of her friends. Was very good to see her again, andI had a good time. Food took ages in coming though, and left at 2200. I cycled to Kim's where I collapsed of exhaustion... don't think Kim was too happy with me sprawling out over the bed :P

Went back to Herne Bay this morning, and got another two teeth sorted. One of them might have to be taken out though, if it refuses to heal. Either that, or root canal surgery. Not pleasant.
Anyway, came back from that with my face all numb again, and cycled straight home... been in all day now sorting out the TagSoc website, which was quite pleasant.

My room is freezing cold.

Uch. This time in the morning should not exist >.<

Was woken up early on Tuesday with a job offer, so I got up and spent 6 hours fixing computers. Fun :D
Was Mike's b'day, so I went over to dbs, which slowly was invaded by TagSoc peeps, and then we all went out to the Westbar. Felt kinda tired to start with, due to working all day, but got into things quite quickly. Dave and Bel felt a bit "meh", and went outside for a bit, but everything got sorted out in the end.

Needed to work again yesterday, just to finish off a few little things (reinstalling win98, for starters. yuck), and then came home and went straight out to swimming. I thought I would be the only one, as it seemed everyone else had cancelled, but I met a Wendy, a Rah, a Pigle, an Aqualla and a RINCEH there, which was good. Did lots of lengths. Was happy.
Went up to campus breifly to print off the Tagsoc flyers, then down to dbs to finish cutting them up, and gave them to Mike. Had a nice chat with Babs too :)

Had to go home and sleep early, cos I now have to leave to go to Herne Bay for a dental appointment at 0900. We'll also be handing out Tagsoc leaflets today, which will be fun, and at midday I'm gonna talk briefly to the new CS1ers.

You know what?

I should really try and update this more often.

I started watching ST:NG Season 2 on Thursday with Kim, and just spent the whole evening snuggled up with her. Was muchos nice.

Friday involved lazing about all day again, playing Q3 online. Pretty funky stuff, and quite alarmingly usually finish in the top 5. Prolly cos there are loads of incompentant n00bs playing, but it still makes me feel good ;)

Saturday, a whole load of us went up campus in the afternoon, and went around woodies, Rutherford and K-Bar, before wandering over to Alex's for a party. Felt kind of meh, but that's probably because I came off a caffeine high (been drinking coke all day cos I can't drink beer for a few more days yet). Ate chinese, had fun, and then cycled back home for an attempted early night (ended up watching Deuce Bigalo : Male Gigalo instead.... veeeery funneh film).

Sunday, people went to the Olde Bev playground and from there up to campus. Went to several different places, but ended up feeling quite tired and drained. Came back with Morti, Dave and Chris, and jibbled about to see what my internet problem was. It warrents it's own entry, so I'll come back to that later.
Went over to Kim's in the end, and snuggled up with her and watched some Danger Mouse. Awesome show. Did some cross stitch too :D:D

Did some more cross stitch this morning, admidst lazing about all morning, and the had a shower with the intent of going out to get a haircut...
Ended up playing some Super Monkey Ball (not 2... 2 is much better) with John, and then lazing about doing nothing else.

It's Alex/Seraph's birthday today, so happy birthday to him :D 21 is a scarily old age to be ;)

Another big writeup.

Hokies, here it is:

Sunday was a fantastic day. After chilling out all night, eating loads of jaffa cakes and stuff (and watching Gattaca), I woke up feeling nice and refreshed. Went to the park for around 1400, and played a game of Blob and swang lots and played with BB gun etc, before getting rained on. Went back to Matt/Dave's house, where I played briefly on the N64 there before watching Hellboy with Kim/Ben/Matt/Chris. Very good film, enjoyed it muchly.
After that, went back to dbs with Alex and Wendy, and ordered pizza and played WarioWare/Super Monkey Ball 2 all night. Was a very nice, realxing day.

Monday involved lazing about all day, doing nothing much. I can't remember doing anything... I know I played some more Morrowind, before I got really annoyed at it again.

Tuesday I spent mostly in HSBC. They locked up my account because I was so overdrawn. In the end, I had to max out my credit card in order to take my account back within my allowed overdraft. Big horrible stressy day.

Wednesday was another really good day. Went into town around 1300, met up with loads of people in Burger King before wandering through town on the way to the swimming pool. Spent around 3 hours in the pool, during which I figured out how to do a stoke which I could actually do, resulting in my completion of 10 lengths of the pool. Was well chuffed.
After swimming, peoples headed back to DBS, where, after ordering and munching chinese food, we watched KungPow : Enter the Fist, an absolutely hilarious parody of old hong kong martial arts movies. Veeeeeeery funny indeed.

Didn't sleep too well though, and woke up this morning with a horrendous tooth ache. I went straight away to a few dentists, and got given the number of a Dental Access Centre in Herne Bay. Made an appointment for 1400, and went there with Kim. We got there an hour early, and so relaxed on some grass for a bit, then went in, filled out some forms, and got looked at. Apparantly, my gums look icky, so I've got a 5 day tablet course, during which I can't take ANY alcohol. Poor me :'(
I also have a few holes, so I've been booked two appointments for thursday and friday next week when they'll be fixed. Other than that they're fine. Whoopee.

Don't know what I'm gonna do for the rest of today, probably gonna go back around to dbs and watch Shaun of the Dead again with Kim

Better

Managed to cheer myself up somewhat last night on wotmania again, and phoned Jess in America. Spent £5 of my £25 card (buy £20 and get £5 free, so that wasn't bad :D) on an 85 minute call. I'm usually really crap at talking on the phone, but whenever I phone internet peeps, I always managed to hold some sort of intelligible conversation. I was quite impressed with myself.

Woke up relatively early this morning, and in between talking to Steph and people in chat managed to get all of Tim's photos online (from his trips to Michigan and Turkey).
Grabber some noodles for lunch, then went out cycling this afternoon. Did Just over an hour, and it felt so good :D Ended up coming back via Kim's house, so I popped in to say hi to her briefly.

Went to Safeways on the way back home and picked up Rolo icecream, apple tango and jaffa cakes. I think I'll have a nice, quiet night in watching a movie and piling back on the pounds that I've just lost :D

Hope everyone else has fun at G.A.Y tonight, welcome back Matt :D

And goodbye Val and Tom. I'm sorry I didn't make it up on to campus to see Val off, and I'm sorry again that I didn't come along to Tom's goodbye bash. I just really wasn't up for either. I'll miss you both :/

Same old....

Hurrah! Thursday actually involved doing somthing! :D
After an eventually good night/early morning (thanks to Jess and Lexi who cheered me up no end :D), I crawled out of bed to find out people were meeting at 1300 for parkage and laze-in-sunnage, which I was surprisingly up for. Cycled there via town, where I got some money out, and posted a letter to my Dad (Tuition fee payment forms... for £770 >.<), and met Ozzit.
Went, with ozzit, to the park, where I met Rah properly for the first time, and much was fun. It was so nice, just sitting there with people, chilling (listening to Enigma in the sun ROCKS!), getting beaten up by a swing, playing blob... was so good. Went briefly back to Chris' house, before going to Weatherspoons West for the curry night to celebrate Rinceh's return. Loads of people were there, so many that I haven't seen in so long (Me, Kim, Skwar, Babs, Mike, Bel, Val, Wendy, Dave, Ozzit, Ka, Aqualla-Chris, DW-Chris, Tom, Claire, Rinceh, Alex, Bill, Kitty, Tan, Nick... I can't think of anyone else, although there probably was :P)

Anyway, after a delicious curry (£3.99 for big curry w rice, poppadoms, pita bread, chuntney and a pint... not bad :D), most people headed back to dbs to have Val's "quiet" goodbye DVD evening. Was quite a squish, but everyone got in and we watched "Spirited Away", a japanese anime movie.. and it was EXCELLENT. Really enjoyed it, brilliant graphicals, and funny too :D Lots of laughs ^_^

Almost went home early, but decided to stay with Kim, to try and cheer her up. Don't think I was very successful (again)

Today was ok for most of the part... Got up late, played lots of Super Monkey Ball 2 and Wario Wares with Kim and Fudgeh, then finished off Star Trek : The Next Generation, Season 1 with Kim. Kim appeared to have cheered up loads by the end of it.

I'm home now though, and feeling crap again though. Dunno why... Kim got a bit annoyed/upset at me, I reckon, cos I wanted to get out and do somthing, seeing as I had been inside all day staring at a screen, and I didn't classify being with Kim and doing nothing to be doing anything. So yeah. Back home, and feeling shite again.

*wonders if blokes can have "times of the month"*
I've been having such an up-down few days... one day I'm with people and everything is good, then somthing happens and it's crap again, then things are good, then they're crap.

Grrrrrr

Thursday, 9 September 2004

Last three days....

Monday... hmmm, can't remember what I did on Monday. I think it involved lazing about at home, doing nothing much. Went around to Kim's in the evening, felt a bit meh still.

Tuesday was muchos fun though, made me feel alot better... Pizza Hut at 1400ish, lots of food there with cutter, pyro, dave, bigchris, Kim, Bel (who's b'day it was), wendy, mike, fudgeh, val and chris. Then most people left us, and me, Kim, wendy, mike, bel and pyro went swimming for a good few hours, which was excellent. Kim bel and I went back to DW's briefly, then ppl went to Bel's for a really good get together.

All in all a really good day... cheered me up alot :)

Woke up this morning feeling a bit tired, which slowly turned to feeling meh.
I then finished the Books of Magic graphic novel series, which has made me even more... moody/depressed/contemplative/meh/whatever else

I really dunno how I'm feeling at the moment, but it's not all that fun.
I just wish I had the power to do stuff, make stuff better for people. I wish I could see the world through clean eyes, not through clouded, mis-understanding, biased ones. I wish I understood things.
I get so annoyed with myself when I just sit down and do absolutely nothing all day, but I still don't do anything. I don't know what to do.
I guess it's maybe caused by suddenly stopping after being so active and doing so much after the last few months. All I want to do is pack a bag, and go back out, somewhere, anywhere... see stuff, do stuff. Forget what it's like to be responsible to anyone but yourself.

Fneh.

I'm feeling so damn polar right now. I want people around, to just be with them. Relaxing, doing nothing, in the sun, wherever, just idling the hours away. But at the same time, I don't, I want to be by myself, not wanting contact with people.

I almost deleted all this, because it doesn't say half of what I want to say, and it says entirely too much. But it stays, because some expression is better than none, even at the risk of misunderstanding.

This one's for Kim

What did I tell ya? Another LJ Icon!

Much nothingness (again)

Once more, today was spent doing... nothing. Stayed at Kim's until about 1530 (finished another level in The Getaway :D), then walked back home. Got annoyed at the crappy net connection here (again), and read some more Books of Magic.

Beem hungry for most of the day, but I'm too lazy to get food.

And behold! From the boredom has sprung forth... an LJ Icon! It's a bit crap, and doesn't really match my LJ colours, but it's still pretty cool :D
More shall come, I think!

LJ meme - bandwagoning :D

So yeah. If you want to know what I think about you, leave a reply to this post, and at some point I'll get around to it and answer.

I'll be honest, so if you don't think you'll like what you hear, then don't reply.

Saturday

Yesterday was a day full of walking. Got up around midday, and went downstairs and played some WarioWare (great game :D) with Kim and Fudgeh untill about 1330, then popped home briefly to pick some stuff. Went back out to the bus station for 1430, met up with Dave, Dave, Bel, Mike, Jen, Kim, Fudgeh and Ben. We all met Chris as he came off the coach, and after a long, idling walk, ended up at his house.

His house rocks.

Went off to Sainsburys, but stopped at the Olde Bev first for a quick drink. Kim and I decided to go straight back to dbs after that, so we did. It was waaaay too hot to be outside any more.

Anyway, by the time we got back to dbs we were both tired and hot, so we ate icelollys and played more wario ware.

Chris, sorry we couldn't make it up to drink with you in the evening... both of us were just really tired, and I couldn't face walking all the way up to Hales Place and then back again :(

So yeah, quite an uneventful day really.

Party fun!

Yesterday was spent browsing about on the net looking for computer bits for the computer I hope to build soon... came to £1200 for a machine with two 17" TFT's, a AMD64 3000+, 1GbRAM, 9800Pro gfx, 250Gb SATA HD, etc etc. Now I know what I'm getting, I just need to get the money :P

Read some more of the Books of Magic. I was gonna give them to Becky, cos she's asked for them, but I haven't read them through properly in ages, and now I have the complete set, that's what I'm gonna do :D (Sorry Becky, you can have them after I've finished :D)

Went to Bel's in the evening, for a nice relaxed evening of drinkage. Not much happened, except Dave getting thoroughly sat on. Was nice to see everyone again, as I hadn't properly since I had come back from my various travels.

Walked back via Subways, and came back to dbs with Kim... getting there at the same time as Mike and Jen who had taken a taxi back :D

Today is a blue day, and I refuse to stay inside more than I have to. We'll be meeting Chris at 1430, and hopefully another party thing will happen tonight.

Maybe I should just relax and chill out a little bit, but I find it really, really irritating the way in which everyone in general seems unable to timekeep.

We were supposed to be at Sainsbury's at 1930. I only found out at just before 1900, and needed a shower, etc, so I came to IRC at 1925 to try and catch people to tell them I would be late. Had people left? Nooo.. everyone was still sat in front of their computers, IRC'ing away. I suggest meeting at 2000 then, and everyone says that that would be a much better idea. I leave at 1940, cos it takes me 20 mins, and after 10 mins I walk past the bottom of dbs road. I phone ahead to meet them, and I'm told they're just leaving. 10 mins later, after I've walked up to see what's happening, they actually leave the house.

And it's not the first time either.

Now, I know it's not a big deal, but it frustrates me. And I know that big groups are naturally just slower at doing things than individual people, and that it's not really _anyone's_ fault.

But is it really too difficult to be on time? really?

Anywho, rant over, and I expect to be told to just chill, relax, etc etc.

Heehee

I'm so sad.... I've added myself to my friends list :D:D

Today

Today started off ok, after waking up and feeling slightly better than I had yesterday. The bleugh feeling kicked back in after a while though, especially as Kim is feeling down too, and there doesn't seem to be anything I can do to help.

Wasted the morning and most of the afternoon knocking around on ebuyer, looking at components for a new PC that I'd like to build. Around 5ish, people decided that hilleh would be good, so I cycled up, and realised how completely unfit I am. More cycling sessions are in order, I feel. Spent a pleasant few hours on the hill with Kim, Babs, Val, Chris, Dave, Becky, Bel and Mike. Tried to cheer Kim up some, but I have a feeling I really didn't help matters.

Went to RF for food, only to find them closed, so went to eliot instead. Cycled across to Chris' house, and jibbled about getting advice from Mike as to computer components. Helped me make a few decisions :D

I then cycled back, listening to Nightwish. Did it really fast, and again realised how unfit I am. Still, it was great to cycle again, and after having a nice warm shower, and putting on nice clean clothes, I feel all warm and snuggly. I'm sat in my cosy little room, with dimmed lighting, feeling much better than I have done for the past few days. Content is the word.

Another big catchup

Last friday was good; around 8 plates of duck were demolished by our table :D Came back home briefly to pack a bag, then headed over to dbs for a get together.

Woke up too early on Saturday, and walked to Cbury West station, and went back to Romsey, where my parents took Jonathan, Sarah and I out for a meal (to celebrate Jonathan's GCSE results, apparantly. He got somthing like 2A*s, 7As and 2Bs). The rest of the weekend was spent lazing about... went and played golf with Jonathan on Sunday, and played better than I ever have, and he played alot worse than he ever has. He still beat me :P Monday, we went for a nice walk in the New Forest (to Boulderwood. Haven't been there in aaaaages, was really nice to go again).

Came back on Tuesday, and I bought my bike back with me, so that's all good. Went around to see Kim that evening, but felt really tired and bleugh, so just fell asleep. And didn't sleep well, at that >.<
Woke up feeling, surprisingly, a little bit better. Spent the rest of the morning at Kim's, then came home via the new Tescos, and bought a whole load of food. Then my net connection died inexplicably, so I spent a while reading The Books of Magic. They're a series of EXCELLENT graphic novels, by Neil Gaiman and John Ney Reiber. Absolutely packed full of good story and philosophical insight. And they always make me wistfully depressed. sorta contemplative and introspective.

Anyway, I was going to go out with Bri and Tadi to see The Village, but ended up not. Instead, I stayed in with John and Linus, after they had had 7 shots of vodka each. We went down to the Crosskeys, and had another 2 pints there, after which John and Linus were both completely wasted. It was one of the most amusing evenings I've had in aaages :D

Anyway, I felt a little tipsy myself, so I read a little bit more, and then crashed.

Today... I dunno. Nothing specific to do, so I guess I'll end up doing nothing specific.
